Gary Johanson - Business Advisor

Gary’s commitment to leading business growth started in the 1980’s when he worked for IKEA both as the CFO for the Canadian operations and store manager at the Richmond, BC location. Over a 10-year period he successfully lead efforts to eliminate tax rulings that would have doubled IKEA’s tax burden, oversaw a major expansion of the Richmond store and subsequent growth in sales from $35 to $65 million, more than doubled profitability, and set up IKEA’s mail order business in Canada.

Gary lead efforts to set up a finance company with branches across Canada, negotiated private placements with merchant banks, and managed national real estate operations. He also played a key role in establishing the Canadian operations for a 200 store North American based computer franchise chain.

His fierce commitment to entrepreneurs and their success grew rapidly in the late 90’s and into the 2000’s  when he helped companies develop plans for growth and increased profitability and started two companies in the IT area.  The success of his companies was based on an unwavering commitment to his customers and to building a solid business foundation.

After selling his businesses Gary continues his commitment to the success of entrepreneurs by combining his hands on experience with Wardell’s value building business programs.
